If you are having difficulty finding balance or meaning in your life, feeling overwhelmed with life's day to day challenges, struggling with an addiction or suffering the the effects trauma; we can help. Our goal is to cultivate self acceptance, healthy connections, and personal growth by providing a safe, healing environment that supports self-discovery and understanding.
BigTree Behavioral Health Services views counseling as collaborative process between client and therapist. We provide evidence-based treatment interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Training, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT).
We offer free consultations to ensure a good match between client and counselor. During the consultation we provide information about our practice, available treatment options, legal matters such as confidentiality, and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

BigTree believes financial constraints should not impede one’s access to quality behavioral services and is committed to provided equitable access to services for everyone seeking care. In addition to working with many insurance providers, we offer a sliding-fee scale to individuals who may be uninsured or underinsured.

If we do not currently accept your insurance, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider. Insurance companies commonly provide reimbursement for services from out of network providers.
No-Shows/Late Cancellations:
BigTree is committed to provide timely access to care for all of our clients. We require 24 hour notice to cancel and/or reschedule an appointment. When a session is cancelled without adequate notice, we are unable to fill this time slot by offering it to another current client, a client on the wait list, or a client with a clinical emergency.
The full session fee will be charged for missed sessions and late cancellations (less than 24 hours). The credit card information or other payment information you previously provided will be used to process this payment. By providing us with your credit card information or booking an appointment, you consent to this policy. Multiple no-shows will result in the termination of therapy.
Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) Clients: We cannot charge you or your insurance for missed sessions or late cancellations. Because of this, three or missed appointments/late cancellations within a six-month period or two consecutive sessions will result in termination of therapy.
Sliding Fee Scale:
BigTree Behavioral Health Services offers a limited number of sliding fee scale agreements to individuals experiencing a financial a hardship who are uninsured/underinsured or self-pay. Sliding fees are limited. If not available, clients may choose to be placed on a waitlist or referred to another provider.
To qualify sliding fee scale, we ask individuals seeking services to complete the Sliding Fee Scale Qualification and Attestation Form and to provide proof of income. Individuals experiencing a financial hardship who are unable to provide proof of income/benefits may only be eligible for the standard discount.
Approved sliding fees/discounts are valid in 180-day increments at which time individuals will be required to re-attest.

LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR
Licensed Professional Counselors are fully licensed by the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT). LPC's hold a graduate degree, complete 36 months or 1900 hours of clinically supervised counseling experience, and pass a national competency exam before becoming fully licensed. In order to maintain their license, LPC's are required to complete no less than 40 clock hours of continuing education (CE) every two years.
PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR ASSOCIATE
Professional Counselor Associates are pre-licensed professionals registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT). In addition to having completed a Master’s program that includes supervised clinical practicum or internship experience totaling at least 700 clock hours and no less than 280 direct client contact hours, they are required to pass a national competency exam and pass a criminal background check. Similar to a doctors in residency, Professional Counselor Associates are required to complete 3 years (36 months) of supervised clinical experience after completing graduate school, including at least 1,900 hours of supervised direct client contact, before becoming fully licensed by OBLPCT.
Professional Counselor Associates work independently but receive ongoing clinical supervision to encourage responsible provision of services, promote the best interests of clients, foster acquisition and refinement of skills, and promote professional development. Supervision may include, but is not limited to reviewing case notes, charts, records, and audio or visual tapes in order to evaluate the appropriateness & effectiveness of assessments, treatment plans, and therapeutic skills.
MENTAL HEALTH INTERN
Mental Health Interns are graduate students who are completing their required clinical internship as part of their Master’s program. BigTree Behavioral Health Services is proud to host clinical mental health students from Oregon State University - Cascades’ Master of Counseling program.
Working with a mental health intern can be beneficial for both clients and the interns themselves. Here are some advantages:

As counselors in training, Mental Health Interns, are not able to bill insurance companies and provide services on a sliding fee scale. For individuals with insurance, BigTree Behavioral Health Services matches client’s copay amount for counseling services provided by our Mental Health Interns and offer a sliding fee scale to individuals who are uninsured or experiencing a financial hardship.
CERTIFIED ALCOHOL AND DRUG COUNSELOR III (CADC III)
CADC III's are graduate level counselors certified by the Mental Health and Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO). In addition to having a graduate degree, CADC III's complete 6,000 supervised hours in addiction counseling, and pass both a national certification exam and a jurisprudence ethics exam.

Helen is a highly dedicated and compassionate counselor who specializes in working with adults and couples. With a strong emphasis on building meaningful counselor-client relationships, Helen strives to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals and couples can explore challenges and work towards positive change.
As a family member and professional, Helen has witnessed both the anguish of mental unwellness and the power of recovery. Victoria is a caring and culturally sensitive practitioner who believes that individuals have within them the intuitive wisdom they need to transform, heal and evolve into better versions of themselves. With a clinical mental health background that ranges from providing care in a mental hospital to community counseling environment, she is able to demonstrate her passion for helping people attain health and overall wellness with the use of a holistic approach.

Victoria is an empathetic and passionate counselor who specializes in working with individuals and couples struggling with relationship, behavioral and psychological challenges.
She recently moved to Bend after traveling and exploring several parts of the country with her good friend, and decided to make Oregon her new home. She enjoys travel, adventure, and cuisines from all over the world. She also enjoys hiking and nature explorations as well as gardening, nutrition and naturopathic health and healing.

Andrew egli, mA, professional counselor associate
For as long as he can remember, Andrew has been interested in working with people. Andrew considers himself to be warm, friendly, and approachable, and hopes to foster a safe and supportive environment for counseling. He believes in each individual’s capacity for change, and considers it an honor to be able to hold his clients’ stories and bear witness to his clients’ growth and development.

As a counselor, Andrew brings an innate sense of genuineness and compassion into the room. Andrew enjoys working with clients from a variety of backgrounds, although he has especially enjoyed his work with LGBTQ+-identifying individuals, teens, and the elderly. Some of his areas of interest include identity development, drug and alcohol recovery, men’s issues, and grief and loss.
Andrew grew up in Bend and graduated from Summit High School, just a few blocks away from BigTree. He has also lived in numerous larger cities up and down the West Coast, from San Francisco to Seattle. Andrew returned to Bend in 2020 to be closer to family. In his free time, Andrew enjoys writing and performing music, playing and watching basketball, doing yoga, running, cooking, going to concerts, and spending time with loved ones.

Andrew believes that his clients are the experts on their own lives, and that his job is to reflect their experiences back to them and help them make decisions, clarify their values, and develop new insights. He believes that human suffering is more complex than just a cluster of symptoms and that each individual deserves to be seen for their unique set of identities and life circumstances. An English Lit major in undergrad, Andrew operates through an existential lens and often incorporates elements of narrative therapy into his work. He also believes that joy and humor can be powerful therapeutic tools, and enjoys nothing more than celebrating his client’s successes with them when appropriate. Andrew is trained in EMDR. He also incorporates CBT and DBT skills in his work with clients presenting with a variety of symptoms.

Cameron aims to bring a calm and grounded presence to the counseling room. Drawing from his experiences as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and leader in Search and Rescue missions, Cameron has cultivated a deep appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit. Through moments of crisis and vulnerability, he's learned the importance of leadership and compassion.
Outside of counseling, Cameron enjoys outside activities, including his passions for long-distance trail running and backcountry skiing. Cameron has always found solace and inspiration in nature's boundless beauty, cherishing the simple joy of exploring what the natural world has to offer. Cameron moved from Colorado to Bend for school where he currently resides with his partner and their two dogs and cat.

ANDREA HENDRICKSON, clinical mental health intern
Andrea is person-centered counselor who draws on an eclectic mix of interventions based on her client's needs and interests. With an MFA in writing, Andrea utilizes narrative therapy techniques to assist clients to tell and revise their stories in a way that aligns with their values and most authentic selves.

Andrea brings warmth, curiosity, and authenticity to her counseling practice. After a 20-year career in education (college admissions, school-based college counseling, and independent college counseling), Andrea was motivated to expand her helping practice to include more populations, and with them, other life stages and transitions, challenges, and opportunities. In addition to Big Tree, Andrea is an intern at the Deschutes County Stabilization Center and has experience working with crises in sessions and in the community.
Outside of counseling, Andrea is a choral singer, knitter, kayaker, traveler, arts and culture enthusiast, and occasional writer.
Andrea was born and raised in Oregon, working her way ever-eastward until she landed in Central Oregon (the first time) in 2015. She has also lived and worked abroad in Southeast Asia.
